I'm really impressed with this. Maybe because I haven't tried the "more professional" class models, but I haven't spent close to $200 either. So far, so good. True, as in my case you have to tighten it up a bit to make it stay, I would say it's just common sense to use it the way I am. Tried with stars, macro, even rotated the camera 90 degrees for a vertical shot. It fits all four of my tripods with two different thread sizes on the base or sits flat and stable on its own. As you can see from the picture, it supports 7DII with hand grip, 100mm lens and macro ring light, not an easy combination. The large wheel for attaching the camera to the Z stand feels nice and solid. No cramps, pinched fingers etc. Sits tight if the balance is right, common sense. By the way, the hot shoe mount does NOT support the lens, it just rests on it due to gravity. Nice solid anodized construction with flat bladder plate. I was even able to stretch it out and point the camera directly at the tripod with no play, unlike other tripod heads. Not bad at all for the price. While only time will tell how well it will hold up (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars, apart from the extra effort of tightening it up), I'm very happy with this purchase so far. I wasn't paid for it, it's rare that I take a chance on a purchase and I'm glad it's so soon. Again, only time can tell.
