I think it was a mistake

So I had to replace the old brass hinges on my 80's cabinets. I bought Amerock's satin nickel cabinet knobs and wanted them to match. They don't match exactly in color, but they're close enough to the closet. The loops are ok. They're not as pretty as the bows I had before, but they're not terrible. I think with hardware it's a common effect when you look around and don't really get close to notice a scratch or two or poor surface quality. The problem with them for me was that I originally had #6 3/4" screws to hold the hinges in place. The ones that came with the kit look more like a #4 1/2" screw. Therefore, these screws do not hold the hinges very tight. If you are installing new cabinets this would not be a problem, however if you are trying to use your old screw holes this could be a problem. Now I'm looking for screws of the same size as before, in satin nickel, which are very difficult to come by. So in the end I feel like I should have just paid more for hinges with better screws, although I believe the ones I saw at my local big box store also had the same size screws.

Pros
  • alright
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
