Review on Sunlite SL20 BLB Spiral Blacklight by Terrance Duncan

These are the finest CFL style black lights available. I tested Sunlite, Feit, Sleeklighting, and Slice of the Moon black light CFLs. The lamps tested range from 13W to 25W. These are the most effective of all. I don't like to say bright because black light that looks bright isn't a good black light. A good black light produces mostly invisible light with a small amount of visible light. In contrast to high-quality fluorescent lamps and black mercury HID lamps, the tested compact fluorescent lamps emit a lot of visible light. However, they are better than the other three tested because they emit much more UV light than visible light. They excite UV sensitive objects better than the other 3. Out of the 10 SL20 bulbs I used for a month only one failed. Only Feit achieved reliability. Although feit is not as effective as black light. Sleeklighting lamps are much more fragile with a thinner tube. I tested two of them. One broke off while screwing. Another failed after about 3 weeks. I tested 2 pieces of moon pears. One fell into a fireball when I first turned it on. The second broke after 10 days. This is the most expensive and largest lamp. It emits a lot of visible light and very little black light. The only downside to these Sunlite bulbs is that their plastic base is larger than traditional CFLs. This limits your choice of devices in which it can be used.
