Couldn't auto-detect my vehicle's VIN

Runs 129x Can't auto-detect my VIN on both of my cars: '96 Toyota 4Runner SR5 3.4L and my 2001 Ford Mustang. The guide/instruction manual is useless, it doesn't explain what to do after I entered my VIN manually, it just stopped. I also didn't find any help or videos on the launch website. I had high expectations when I ordered it, but I'm disappointed. Lisa, female, 58 years old.
