I've read reviews complaining that the spoon on this salt shaker doesn't quite fit the lid or is slightly imperfect. I would not have expected this. This is handmade. My spoon is a millimeter or two longer than the lid; So what? This is clearly handmade which adds to the charm. My basement smelled no different than the faint bamboo smell I was expecting. I wiped it down with a damp cloth, let it dry completely and sprinkled some Maldon sea salt on it. This is perfect for my needs. The lid turns a bit loose but that's not a problem either as I won't be taking it off when using it on a counter or dining table anyway. For this price, this is excellent quality. I highly recommend it.
