Review on Freud Finish Crosscut Blade LU88R010 by Robert Goodlow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent blade. Would buy again. ! Check your teeth!

No doubt I will keep buying it. Excellent for straight cuts and clean cuts when ripping. It sticks a bit quickly, the blade has only been used a few weeks and has only cut a few pines but a walnut board and teeth were already showing sap build up on the sides. Although easy to clean. I've tried using it to cut lap joints, but the teeth form a cavity and don't produce a smooth, clean groove. The sides are great, but the bottom is grooved and requires more flattening/flattening work. Bevel cutting worked pretty well on my rigid r4512 (I think that's the correct model number, it's the latest version of the saw, I know there's an older model). I made a hex shelf and trimmed the ends of the center board with an arrowhead so it could slide into the shelf and center on the corner joints. So I set it to 30 and cut and rotate the board and cut again and I have my arrowhead. Anyway, I checked my needle plate and found that the blade was either bent or tilted towards the needle plate because I saw tooth marks around the edge of the lip hole. I never pushed the blade in those directions, always in the direction of the cut, and all my cuts came out clean. So I'm not sure if it's because of the thin kerf that makes it so flexible. In any case, I plan to end up with a play-free needle plate. UPDATE: I must have received a defective blade. After cleaning my blade I noticed that there were some issues with the 2 teeth. Small chips or cracks in metal teeth (see photo). Anyway, I thought, okay, no big deal. Today I sawed 1x4, literally 3.5 inch material. The saw jammed a piece of wood and ruined one end. It wasn't typical of this disc, so I took a closer look. More than 6 teeth are now damaged or broken. I'll come back and wait for a replacement, I hope it was just an accident.
