This is a flat, lightweight kitchen scale, ready to use. The scale comes with the necessary batteries (you just need to unfold them and install them on the bottom of the scale). You just turn it on and put something on it to determine the weight. Switching between metric and imperial systems (grams and ounces) is easily possible with the push of a button. It is very easy to use and understand. You can also keep it upright like a skinny book or I just put it on top of my coffee mugs in the closet as it doesn't take up much space at all. I like it a lot more than my old scale which takes up more space and isn't digital.
