Who would have thought it would work!
Not pictured but trust me it works. The leaves just slipped out of the hole and the water ran out. I would make small changes to the design to make them perfect, but overall they work well. Allowed me to install underground pipes to divert water away from the site. A little leaf cleaning, but it's a small price to pay to keep leaves out of the tubes. Hm, maybe I'll add some screen for the leaves hahaha. Then I post pictures.
