Great for an Eagle Scout 6x6 project using my son's stacked steps.

Great fasteners! We used them for my son's Eagle Scout project. He added top and bottom square/U-shaped steps to a series of steps on a hill. These steps were built from U-shaped 6x6 overlapping gravel filled steps. Thus the design is a lap joint for the face and legs/tails. We needed to secure the front splice in the next few steps below. I used a Makikta screwdriver (cool!). We pre-drilled some of these to extend battery life (not a good spot charging option) but then we just started using them as standard. Place it where you want it and easily pull it through stacked 6x6s with a T-30 mallet and a Makita driver. The top fits snugly onto the bottom and you're done. Only thing I will say is that once inside they stay inside. We had to take one step (you know, design vs. "as built"). But Makita couldn't remove them! We'd need a much bigger puncher. It's ok - and the reason is that - think about it - it essentially carves its own way - without cleaning any material (like cleaning the flutes of a drill bit). So as soon as it "hardens a little", the wood shrinks back. Nothing wrong - just saying if you come in - you are here to stay!

Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
