Too small for practical use, messy because the mold doesn't lay flat

I was disappointed with the practical use of this mold, especially given the price compared to many other molds I've bought elsewhere. For cost reasons, I only bought one mold and I'm glad I didn't invest more. I was going to use this for an orange gelatin kid treat but the mold didn't lay flat so I ran out of liquid. when I poured it. When I adjusted and filled the tray, the finished product was so small that each was only one bite, in fact not even the size of a thick slice of tangerine. (I could put at least 3 slices horizontally on the tines of a dinner fork.) I thought 5 slices would be a pretty small serving, but 5 was the minimum that could be offered. Being able to produce only 10 slices per mold, for a total of 2 servings per batch, made this mold totally impractical for my goals of producing at least 40 servings, so I gave up on it altogether. Also, the imprint of the orange "disk" is only created on one side of each molding, making it almost impossible to even tell what that shape was supposed to represent. Perhaps using this mold to make chocolate chunks would have been the best plan as the print wouldn't get lost in the transparency of the jelly.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Poor instructions
