Review on ☕ Stainless Steel OXO Brew 8-Cup Coffee Maker by Beth Martin

Great coffee maker - very easy to use

Great coffee maker. It warms the water enough for excellent extraction and is a really good alternative for those using K-Cups. You can easily brew a cup of coffee and it tastes better than K-cup coffee. This is a basic coffee maker for those who just want a nice hot cup of coffee with no timers etc. I used my Thermapen to check the temperature in the shower head and it read 200F which is the perfect temperature for brewing coffee. In my opinion. I always heat water to 200-201 when brewing coffee. It seems to be the most pleasing place for my taste buds. Very easy to use. You press the power button and press the button for 2-4 cups or 5-8 cups. It's intuitive and easy. The machine will automatically brew all the water in the tank. So when you brew a cup, be sure to measure the amount of water for the cup, otherwise you will overflow or run out of water. There is a small reservoir under the jug/cup area to catch the overflow. When brewing a cup of coffee, use a CLEAN coffee cup to measure the amount of water in the tank. Make sure the bowl is CLEAN. You will ruin your tank of coffee oils etc if your cup is dirty. The same goes if you use a carafe to measure water - it needs to be clean. They'll just end up making the tank funky and drinking funky coffee. Use a clean measuring jug/cup or Brita filter jug. The decanter is poured gently without dripping. It is rust free inside and out. Looks great on the table and keeps the coffee hot. The pen has the typically good OXO design, which means it's easy and comfortable to pick up and pour. There's no clock or timer, so NO, you can't set it to make coffee when you wake up. Prepare coffee in a carafe. Use the Kalita Wave #185 Coffee Maker to brew a batch of coffee. Maybe you could just cut out a small filter basket if you don't want to buy Kalita filters. Kalita are excellent Japanese filters. I descale my coffee maker once a month with a mixture of water and 1 teaspoon of citric acid. Citric acid is inexpensive and does an excellent job of removing scale. It is an ingredient used in commercial coffee machine descaler cleaners. After descaling, run clean water through the machine to clean it. If you have very hard water you may need to do this more often. Limescale forms and EVERY coffee machine does not work properly. And your coffee won't taste as good. I wash the carafe/lid and brew the cone with soap and hot water EVERY DAY after making coffee. If you want your coffee to be delicious, you need to keep your gear clean. Coffee oils accumulate over time and become rancid, making your coffee taste weird. Oil can also build up in the carafe lid, causing it to clog, overflow and not come out clean. - Has a 2 year guarantee.
