Many reviewers have commented on the slim fit and I can attest to that. I bought size 4T/5T for my 3 year old and they were very skinny and long. To be fair, my daughter is in the 90th percentile, but her weight-to-height ratio is very healthy (she's taller than some but thin. Her best friend, who's a week older, towers over her). Pulled up, the top was at least 1-1.5 inches above her belly button, but it only covered half of her buttocks, and she constantly complained of discomfort. she wore them while I looked for a replacement. As such, they appear to be quite absorbent.
