Not as good as a flatbed scanner but good for a computer camera

Well I originally got this to scan some old family photos but I have yet to do that. In the meantime I decided to browse the music sites. It's much easier to use as I don't have to open the top of the tray, lay out sides, etc. I connected it to my computer and found where the computer's camera was located and it turned on immediately. However, it was too big for full pages, so I lifted it onto a box about 4 inches high and then it was the right size. Too bad there is no zoom setting. Clarity/camera are great! I think if you use it to show students/colleagues pages with things about the internet, it would be great. However, it is not suitable for a document scanner. It picks up too many shadows and throws them to the sides even when I'm trying to make sure the lighting is stable in the room. The light he put on doesn't matter at all if the room is already bright enough. I suppose I could try scanning in the dark and just relying on the light, but scanning at night would be difficult so I have daylight to work with. I had to crop and adjust the brightness of the pages I wanted to print and shadows still printed on them. So it's more convenient than a tablet and great if you want to use it for real-time visualization on the web. However, this is no substitute for the flatbed quality of document scans, and I think photos too. It's okay, but it doesn't really serve the purpose
