This decreases your pedal height and gives you greater width, but the physics of a longer effective crank at the bottom of your stroke and a lower effective crank at the top of your stroke means it's harder for you to pedal at the top and you have more free torque at it the bottom where you produce the most. If you want to pedal more easily, look for oval chainrings.
