Review on Powerful and Compact: Small Benchtop Drill Press DRL 300 00 by Sirious Cavalli

First, the drill press works well. As mentioned in another poster I was surprised that it has a speed controller and from low speed it can't even rotate the cartridge. (If you start it up fast and then slow it down, it keeps running, but low-speed performance is almost zero.) But it gave me good control over the accuracy of drilling holes in a 1/8-inch aluminum shank. I would call it sloppy or maybe "fit and finish". First the table was covered with oil. I understand the oil is part of the manufacturing process and certainly prevented the table from rusting, but it was overkill. Even the product's box had oil stains and I had to unwrap it with paper towels. On the other hand, the yoke where the diving arm is screwed in was rusty. The lever was difficult to turn. I'm not sure if it's all the way in. even now (and I smeared it with lube). The dive lever seems to have a rather rough gear. When you pull it down, it doesn't feel smooth. I haven't noticed any problem with the actual bouncing of the drill head, so I'll put it in the fit and finish category. Obviously someone has taken a few previous complaints to heart: I have a spare strap. The English instructions are ok, but it's really just a 1-page flyer with a photo and labeled parts. It doesn't say much. Packaging: It was packaged in a shipping box that was a few inches larger in two dimensions than the product box and had a sheet of paper sandwiched on one side. It was completely lost to all other parties. This didn't seem to be a problem until I put everything back together and noticed that the vent on top of the belt cover was partially broken. I don't know if it was the packaging and it's not really a problem. This is simply a symptom of poor packaging or transmission. Conclusion: I would probably buy it again. Does what I want, very cheap. Just pay attention to the price and avoid the expectations that come with a multi-hundred dollar instrument.
