I have a Subaru Outback with an electronically controlled screen and display for radio, bluetooth, etc. The car's owner's manual states that the GPS should not be placed on the dashboard or windshield (except in a very small area, I don't think anyone would tell) and my son impulsively tried my 5 inch gamin on the dash and indeed the electronic display in the car went out immediately. I then had to place the Garmin in a sandbag holder next to the shifter, covering most of the two cup holders. It was pretty cumbersome to use, but it worked. When I saw this I thought it might work. I have a newer 7" Garmin and screwed this unit into a cup holder, which fits snugly. Because it's raised a few inches and its angle can be adjusted, the large 7" screen fits squarely and is easy to see. It does drive a little on bad roads but that's not a problem I like this style more than the one on the dash A great inexpensive solution to the awkward Garmin placement dilemma!
