I used one of these to attach a tarp to a motorcycle brake lever while parked. When I took it off, the hinge and handle just broke. For a long time, the jaws were not under great tension - they were only lengthened by the thickness of the tarpaulin, maybe a couple of millimeters. The plastic is not thick enough and not even suitable for this heavy spring application. You think they'll break as soon as you take them, and they do. I have similar clamps from a reputable discount store that still hold up after 15 years outdoors. This failure is ridiculous. It looks like a child's toy, shaped like a real instrument.
