They have been lying on my stairs for over a week now. I was initially skeptical about the backs, I was surprised to find that they have a weird rubbery material instead of a ribbon-like band. But they stick great! I tried pulling one of the mats to the side to test the grip but it didn't budge. The dog and I can easily walk up and down the stairs. Being able to remove and replace them quickly is amazing because I didn't have to spend an hour putting them in, measuring and getting them right - if something seems too far away I can just move it! I look forward to tossing them in the wash to remove dog hair (vacuums don't quite cut them). I'm so glad I got these and not the traditional tape/glue. They're a good size too - bigger than many others I've looked at. Other reviews mentioned that they arrived "folded" and the folds didn't straighten out. Although they were folded in half for transport, they were not folded sharply. The pair had slight bulges in the middle and didn't lay flat at first, but by placing them on the steps I was able to pull hard enough to remove most of the bulge. After going over them for a week (and a few fixes to the 2nd most stacked), no one could ever tell they were once stacked.
