I purchased this cable assembly for my dual band mobile ham radio that is installed in my Ram 1500 pickup truck. The antenna mounts with a fender mount which requires me to Route the cable in the gap between the hood and the front fender. Although my original cable wasn't very thick, after a short time the coax cable was damaged and my radio worked extremely poorly as a result. This cable assembly solved the problem. The end of the cable is much thinner and fits easily between body panels and door seals without pinching. I'm not sure why all cables aren't built that way.
