The bottom comes in a tough, durable ceramic finish. There is good weight to it without being too heavy to hold. It also fits comfortably in one hand which makes drinking from it much less awkward than some bottles. There is also a flexible and foldable handle attached at the neck which can work for easier carrying and as an attachment point when needed. The handle itself does not have a clip, so you would need to use something else with a clip or a carabiner to attach it.The Body:The bottle is coated in a textured ceramic finish. The texture provides a nice solid grip which keeps it from slipping out of your hand. It is kind of an eggshell finish as a high gloss finish would probably diminish the functionality of the grip-able surface texture and I think it is a nice aesthetic choice overall. The ceramic material also provides assistance in the insulation process and minimizes the possibility of surface condensation. In my particular situation, my bottle was white and due to the finish and texture it does pick up dirt, grime, and grease very easily - so keep this in mind when choosing your finish! The large mouth opening on the bottle makes it absolutely splendid and easy to drink from. Simply open and pour! No need to deal with trying to extract large amounts of liquid from a tiny hole when you are thirsty or worry about dirt and bacteria transfer from a straw. The opening adds ease of use when drinking and filling. The large screw-on lid is a blessing and a curse. Due to the textured coating and size of the lid it is extremely easy to twist for screwing and un-screwing (even with one hand!). With the nature of the threads and how easily you can apply a firm grip to the lid it is easy to tighten (even over-tighten) and take off. Sometimes you can get it so tight it becomes difficult to take off, but I will actually credit it for this because I believe this will help in insulating the bottle. The interior of the bottle is a very clean stainless steel. While being double wall vacuum insulated, the barrier space between the outside of the bottle and the inside of the bottle is not extremely thick so you can still fit a lot of fluid in the bottle without feeling deceived by the bottle's exterior size. Despite the perceived thickness of the bottle walls, the thermal timing is not a let-down at all as I will touch on next.Thermal Holding (Cold):The advertised cold stay for this bottle is 48 hours. In lieu of this, I bench-tested the bottle for two days after loading it full of half-oval standard ice maker ice and cold tap water. It was monitored (on camera) for a period no less than 48 hours while performing small "taste tests" in intervals during the evaluation. (NOTE: Performing these tests effectively breaks the thermal seal - letting out cold air and allowing room temperature air to take place in the empty cavity of the bottle. As water is removed this allows more space for air and notably can affect the overall accuracy of this test.)On each test the water was COLD. The increase in temperature between tests was minimal - with the first tests actually getting COLDER as the ice began transitioning to water and radiating lower temperatures into the water. In the end, after 48 hours, the water was still very cold and quite enjoyable! This bottle had absolutely no issues keeping my liquid refreshment cold for the time claimed by the vendor.Thermal Holding (Hot):This is where things get a little sticky - and also where one star was removed (!). Just like our first test with the ice water, to perform a thorough evaluation we had to also test the hot time. Again, the advertised "keep hot" time for this bottle was 24 hours. We made sure our bottle was at a sitting room temperature and began.Armed with a nearby convenience store, the bottle got completely filled with piping hot hot chocolate. Over the next 24 hours, again the bottle was bench tested and recorded as it sat. At certain intervals the hot chocolate was "tested" to evaluate the decrease in temperature over time. After around eight (8) hours the hot chocolate was at perfect drinking temperature. At fourteen (14) hours the hot chocolate was at room temperature and undrinkable. This was 10 hours after the expected loss of heat. Accounting for the two (2) times that the bottle was open and the acceptable amount of loss regarding heat and vacuum, there is no way this amount of time would be anticipated. It is in my fair opinion that this bottle certainly did not meet the advertised "hot" time. However, this is NOT a deal-breaker for me! This bottle works very well for cold beverages, it is easy to hold, and is easy to drink from with its large mouth opening. Since I will never really have the need to bottle any hots it will work perfectly for my needs and I will continue using it as my daily water bottle.Hopefully this information helps anyone interested in this bottle.
