Bad design? on electric door lock

I couldn't use it. I was trying to install it on a 1997 c1500 kLock door cylinder. Absolutely couldn't get the stem end through his tongue. The original tongue has a cutout to make threading the stem easier, but the Dorman tongue doesn't. I didn't get a chance to push through the end of the bar. The metal of the tab is too strong and dense. No pushing, looking or wedging helped.
