If you're not familiar with Sirui (pronounced 'SUE-ray', believe it or not), this is a quality Chinese tripod. Brand. I use two other Sirui tripods and they are well built, reliable, easy to use and use quality parts. AM-223 is no exception. This is a good set of legs, durable and easy to use. I was particularly impressed by the excellent mechanism for adjusting the angle of each leg and the fact that the legs are detachable. The tripod comes with a set of indoor rubber feet and a set of 3/8 inch threaded spikes like full-size tripods. AM-223 too. AM-223 also has a metric scale on the shin segments. I don't know why it's there. Maybe to make it easier to adjust the shin segments to the same length? Or maybe it's some sort of ruler intended for scaling when shooting macro subjects. Anyway nice to have but not sure I'll ever use it. and RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO with B-00K ball head tilted in portrait mode tilts the system in certain configurations (e.g. when legs are open only to the first detent without extending additional segments). It's just physics: pulling the leg directly under the camera and changing the angle will solve the problem, as will using an L-Bracket and not tilting the little ball head to the side. So far I have described a five star product. Where this combo really suffers is with the B-00K ball head. It would normally be beneficial to have a separate swivel knob and safety mechanism built into the ball head clamp. At the same time, both simply interfere with the work of the head. The red fuse on the clip can touch the head body and damage it. My experience with the B-00K was so disappointing that I returned this set in favor of another model that I would recommend instead. Which model would I recommend instead? Leofoto LS-223C with ball head LH-25. Please note the similar model number of the legs. Leofoto's legs are identical to Sirui's, apart from a few minor cosmetic differences. The Leofoto leg adjusters are silver instead of blue, which I prefer. And Leofoto does not have a printed metric scale on the lower leg segment. The Sirui version comes with a thin nylon pouch that closes with a drawstring. The Leofoto version comes with an upgraded soft zippered pouch and an internal storage pocket for accessories. Speaking of accessories, Leofoto comes with a special multi-tool that can be attached to backpack straps, a keychain, or slipped into a tripod bag. Best of all, the Leofoto LH-25 Ball Head features a single adjuster positioned at the notch to ensure it doesn't get in the way. (Also, the handle that opens and closes the arca clamp is usually on the side under the lens. With either tripod head, Sirui or Leofoto, this handle needs to be behind the camera so it doesn't get in the way of the tripod legs.) Bottom line, you can't go wrong with the Sirui AM-223 foot set, although the Leofoto LS-223C offers an excellent accessory package. The problem is the Sirui B-00K ball head, which makes the Leofoto LS-223C + LH25 kit a much better choice than the Sirui AM-223 + B-00K ball head.
