EDIT: Bought in 2017 and now in 2021, the camera doesn't always trigger when reverse gear is engaged. Perhaps the cable eventually succumbed to the opening and closing of the tailgate. I don't know what to do about simply swapping out the camera as the rest of the hardware seems fine. I think I speak for every Jeep Wrangler owner when I say that looking out from behind a hardtop is torture. when trying to turn back. The spare tire gets in the way, the rear seat headrests get in the way, and even that damn wiper motor gets in the way. The problem gets worse if you paint it a darker color to kill some of the sun's harmful rays and increase the security of the valuables stored inside. In addition, this camera system allows you to see where you are actually going. It plugs straight into the factory touchscreen radio, and when they say "plug and play," they mean business! It comes with all the necessary cables and the programmer you need to teach your radio to use the camera. The only connection you need to make is the power and ground connection. It is recommended to solder them to the 12V power connector wires for a better connection. Scotch locks are junk and wear out over time, so don't use them. Alternatively, you can run the cables directly to the fuse box, but this requires more effort. The tube fits perfectly between the spokes of my Rubicon's replacement rim. Another lesser known fact is that the camera can be tilted up or down depending on your personal preference. It includes distance lines on the display image to let you know how close you are to an object, but you can optionally disable these lines by connecting a pre-cut green wire to the included wiring harness. Backup just got a million times easier. . EVEN AT NIGHT. There are some reviews here that say the quality of the camera is too bad to see at night, but you can see from my photos that's not the case. I even have LED reversing lights to help light my way. I recommend upgrading the Genessi LED backup light for the Wrangler in addition to this camera setup for the best results.
