Review on 🎨 Charvin Artist Pastels Set: 48 Assorted Colors of Chalk Pastel for Professional Artists by Gelin Battle

Good offer for hobbyists or craftsmen, bad offline

Firstly I do not recommend if you are interested in their water solubility. You can't flatten areas of color by adding water, mixing with water results in very muddy colors, and pigmentation tends to be poor. If you really want to use them with water, I'd recommend just getting a basic watercolor kit. . Wet blending on paper still leaves a very streaky, grainy look, and using heavy wet materials on pastel paper generally does not bode well. However, they are suitable for hard pastels, especially for beginners. The color variety is quite nice, but the darkest tones are missing. So if you're hoping to do a full-fledged job, everything gets mid-toned and a bit blurry. They are also quite difficult to layer without the use of an additional fixative. With a little effort you can get it working, but not for a particularly professional-looking result. However, they are perfectly suitable for hobbyists or artisans who would like to use them in slightly more unconventional ways than fully fledged formal works of art.

Pros
  • Set of water-soluble pastel crayons, highly pigmented pastel pencils for drawing and painting
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I wish I hadn't bought these - they are garbage and not worth the price! Hardly worth a dime.
