So far, so good. Installed the oven door seal with this putty in the week of 11/24/14. Installation was easy with little to no mess. This sealing adhesive is not liquid and is therefore easier and cleaner to apply. Installation Details: Use a screwdriver to remove the old gasket and adhesive from the oven door. I scraped the old cement out of the door channel with a wire and wiped it off with a wet rag. I unscrewed the cement tube's cap, cut off the tip of the nozzle to open it, and squeezed out a generous portion (3/4 of the channel) around the entire perimeter of the door. Rutland Grapho-Glas Woodstove, 1/4 to 5/16 by 84 inches, was used, attached by placing the shim in the channel over the cement and pushing in by hand. After the gasket has been set into the cement, cut it to the right length and sew the two ends together leaving no gap. Leave overnight. The next day I put the door back on the kiln and started a small fire by placing a sheet of newspaper between the new gasket and the kiln opening so the gasket wouldn't stick to the kiln unless the cement was completely dry. . So far, so good.
