I'm a coffee snob. I know the roast profiles I prefer. I know the flavor profiles I like (fruit first). I know the process I prefer for every batch of beans I order. I know three main methods of making coffee. That being said, I've only owned a handful of grinders over the years, ranging from very cheap to moderately expensive. I've never spent hundreds of dollars on a premium coffee grinder because I didn't need it. If I needed a fine grind for a small cup, I would use a manual coffee grinder to my liking. But for large multi-shot brews I've never been impressed with any of my automatic grinders and manual grinding takes too long. In the best case I was only satisfied with inexpensive fully automatic coffee machines, in the worst case I was disappointed. None of my large mills were as good as advertised, although they were relatively cheap compared to the known large mills. So I had my doubts about investing in Fellow Ode as the price is not much higher than a "good" but cheap coffee grinder. Now that I have Fellow Ode I am very happy with it. It's small, simple in design, easy to adjust with every change of grind setting, quiet, fast, and amazingly consistent grind at every setting. There is literally nothing in it that would make me complain. As a side note, Hoffman's thorough (and picky) YouTube review is what made me invest in him. So if you're a coffee lover like me, this coffee grinder will definitely not disappoint. There's also a good chance that if you're an extreme coffee snob like Hoffman, he still won't disappoint. Undoubtedly it is excellent for its price.
