You can't do that with 1/2 inch. PVC

The item listed as a half inch is a NIBCO 4701 series CPVC fitting, Coupler, 1/2" SlipIt is 0.61" ID so I'll take PVC/ CPVC with an OD no larger than 0/61.1/2" PVC (or CPVC) has an OD of 0.84". So I can't figure out what it's for. I guess that doesn't match either UPC 039923107466, which is listed as 1/2" PVC sleeve, but again, it won't work with 1/2" PVC.
