Slow and steady is the name of the game.

First of all before adding any chemicals or treatments. TEST YOUR WATER! And make sure there are no ammonia/nitrite splashes. Treating an aquarium with a disturbed/disrupted nitrogen cycle will only increase the stress on the fish. If you see ammonia or nitrite, take care of that first. Add zeolite and do an emergency water change. After changing the water and lowering the level, start doing daily water changes. Now about how I use this thing. I swear by this thing. New fish, strange behavior, obvious illness; The lifeguards fixed everything. At least for me. When I do a dose, here's what I do. Day 1 - 1/3 of the recommended dose and keep the charcoal. Day 2 - Remove 1/2 dosage and carbon - Check water quality. more), 2/3 of the recommended dose. Day 4 - Full dose or my personal recommendation of 80-90% - Check water quality. Day 5 - 2/3 dose. Day 6 - 25% water change - check water quality. asleep in the picture but this tank has received many doses of Tetra Lifeguard and no small fish have been lost during the above process. The only situation where I would not recommend this product is when all the fish in the aquarium are well established and the disease is easy to spot and has specialized, perhaps less onerous, treatment, ergo ick ect. Other than that, new fish, weird behavior, that's probably what you're looking for.

Pros
  • Can be used as a prophylactic when adding new fish
Cons
  • Wrinkled
