As an auto mechanic, I can tell you that the Power Probe is great. I bought my first Power Probe III from a tool cart about 15 years ago and used it constantly. After about 10 years, my switch burned out, which I had to disassemble on the old model and solder a new one on. What I learned from this is to press the switch before you touch what you want to turn on, otherwise there will be an arc on the switch contacts. After that, it just wore out, most often the wires in the head and the conclusions broke inside. Eventually I made a new connector out of Right Stuff and heater hose. Basically what I'm trying to say is that this thing is amazingly useful, simple and essential for the professional auto mechanic. I don't throw the old one away, I just put it in the trunk just in case.
