Review on ๐Ÿ’ช StrongArm 4590 Sienna Liftgate Supports (Qty 2) for 2004-2010 Models - Power-Assisted by Kyle Tebow

$500 vs $40? This isn't rocket science.

I have a 2008 Toyota Sienna with power doors and tailgate. About a week ago my wife started having problems with her power tailgate. Whether you use the remote or just manually activate it, the overhead gate will start to open, but after 3/4 of the way through, it will beep and automatically close again. . At first this seemed like a bigger problem, like an electronics problem or possibly an engine failure. These doors are calibrated and equipped with safety sensors to detect additional force or restraint during their operation to avoid personal injury. These vans have a lockout switch on the driver's knee pad on the left side. These switches basically turn off the motors for manual operation. With the circuit breaker off, you can quickly check if your gas actuators are faulty or if you have another problem. Open the upper gate by hand as far as it will go (without unlocking the gate), the upper gate must remain open. If this is not the case, one or both gas actuators may fail. Vendors charge $242 for EACH plus any labor. They are very easy to change, especially if you have a helping hand to keep the gate open. I did it alone in 10 minutes with a broomstick to keep the gate open. I chose Strongarm because they claim a lifetime guarantee and the most obvious price difference. Delivered quickly, got to me early. Both devices were packaged very well and come with clear instructions and also offer tech support. Works like a charm, let's see how long they last.

Pros
  • This offer includes 2 lifting feet for the tailgate.
Cons
  • Paint not required
