Do that. Do that. DO THAT.

Holy smokes these things are amazing! The easiest and best ROI upgrade I've ever done on a car. So, I'm 6ft 6 inches tall so I often bang my head on things, but the tailgate on my new Excursion seemed ridiculously low. That was the only thing I hated about the new hitch and I HATE it. A little web browsing led to a discussion about replacing the racks. I wasn't sure if it would make a huge difference, but for the money you can try, right? difference between day and night. No, the back door is no higher than my head, but neither are the doors. But if you've ever been annoyed by the low height of the factory pillars, this is a revelation. Yes, the tailgate opens faster now. Yes, if you park in a space with a low ceiling, the tailgate will bang against it. Yes, if you are below average height you will need to add a traction strap or something, but these racks are a game changer and their length MUST be set at the factory. I was just as easy! For a clue, I looked around my garage and found an old I-beam plane - I think it was 4ft, maybe 3ft - for my ex, it just wedged perfectly between the bumper and the tailgate patch and held it good: The exchange was damn easy. Pry up both ends of both posts with a screwdriver, insert a new post, do it on the other side. Your mileage will likely vary, and having an extra pair of hands is probably a must-have for people of normal, not bizarre, and counterintuitive size, but it's a 15-minute job. when you take 10 to step back and appreciate the change. If you even think about it: do it. Right now. Click Buy. You will be enthusiastic.
