Transmitter Identification The transmitter for the 1998-99 Accord and 2000-02 Accord looks the same but is not interchangeable. The 1998-99 transmitter will work with a 2000-02 Accord door but will not open the trunk. IF unsure which transmitter you have, press and hold the truck unlock button while looking at the LED. The LED on the 1998-99 transmitter lights up after about 1.1 seconds. The LED on the transmitter 2000-02 lights up after approx. 0.05 seconds. My keyless entry was adjusted by "factory" not "dealer". This should work with my EX V6 model. Needless to say I had to shop elsewhere and found a remote that was fully compatible.
