Volume drops over time for some reason

Advantages of this product: - The $20 price can't be beat if you need speakers NOW. - The distance is good, reaching both sides of my 24" monitor is very comfortable, I would say they work up to 32" without stretching the cable. - Power Brick looks solid and works very well, connects firmly to the speakers and never falls out even if I accidentally pull on it - Foam protection on the side of the speaker prevents damage to the speaker enclosure and ensures good sound quality. The sound quality is good, but nothing special. The power button changes to a toggle switch and works great. CONS: After 6 months of using the speaker almost every day for at least 2 hours a day I would say that the maximum volume has dropped by almost half and I am considering finding a replacement. The volume at max volume is very quiet and there is almost nothing I can fix. *Disclaimer* I don't leave the speakers at maximum volume for long periods of time, instead I noticed that they were quiet and found myself turning them on only to find that in just a few days I was already approaching maximum volume. However, it would be unfair to rule out that the speakers worked perfectly and were decently loud upon arrival. I just wish they were a little louder over a longer period of time. The audio jack on the front panel is not suitable for headphones with microphones. If you plug it into your PC's aux jack and then plug your headset into your speakers, your mic won't work, but your headphones will work and sound fine through your headphones. So you have to switch back and forth to play games with the headset. Not very seamless. - The foam shielding around the speaker cabinet is loose. If you pull it a few times, you will feel that it comes off very easily. I kept mine by almost never touching it. However, if you're buying this for a child or teen, expect reasonable wear and tear. SUMMARY: Good budget speakers, maybe the best but temporary. Looks good and works properly but after 6 months the volume has become prohibitive and I am looking for a replacement; or leave that price range and buy more expensive computer speakers.
