Garbage bags

I will preface this negative review by explaining that I am biased against putting my paper in a plastic bag for "recycling". If the junk mail that makes up 90% of my shredded mass isn't wasteful enough, putting it in a !@#$ plastic bag by the side of the road is just salt in the wound. But back to the product test. I really don't like anything about these bags. They are insanely expensive for what are actually paper-thin grocery bags. (Which we forgo in favor of reusable mesh bags). Even a grocery bag is better than this because it's relatively large and thin - you can put groceries in the bottom of a grocery bag and they tend to stay there. In contrast, these bags tend to be square in shape - they're short and wide, meaning you can only fill them half full if you want the ability to gather the top to tie with a twist tie (the is at least included). I can't imagine whoever designed these bags would ever use a bag, let alone one designed to hold the thousands of scraps of paper that typically fall to the ground. The box has a perforated hole at the top, giving the impression that bags can be donated through this hole. You can not. At least I can't. Instead, each time you have to open the box and cling to one of the two reels. These packs are so bad that when they run out I risk having my identity stolen just so I can toss whole sheets straight into the bin instead of shredding sensitive documents and reusing those packs.

Pros
  • Garbage bags
Cons
  • thin
