I used these to replace the ones in the tailgate on my 2005 Scion XA. A little too much force, but my door definitely opens and stays open. I've just measured the min and max lengths of my door plungers as of this writing and selected them by evaluating the force at leverage. I was a bit surprised that they came with ball ends and washers but no nuts. Luckily I had 4 of the exact nuts I needed. I drilled out the door rivets and installed them. They slide into the hardware very easily, but I wish the ends weren't plastic as they feel a bit brittle when you pry the latches off. The support team gave me great assurances that they would definitely guarantee this and I think it should be fine as the force is always a 'push' against the metal parts of the piston and the clamps are really just stopping the pull . If this was an application that someone could try to overstretch, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with the plastic ends. If they really are just plastic inside, then someone could easily push a little too hard, break them, and now you have a scenario where something heavy falls on someone. Amazing for the money and there's a slight feeling that they can weigh just over 100 pounds. Strength. It took almost all of my body weight (160 pounds) to press one. (DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT REMOVE THE PLASTIC END)
