We really enjoyed this Perler Bead project. My 10 year old son and husband love Legend of Zelda; so it was epic. The trick to ironing is the masking tape method. Details on Perler's website. Basically, you stick masking tape to the finished project, turn it onto a heat-resistant surface (outside the perforated panels), place it on a piece of ironing paper, and iron it. As for the extra beads that some people complained about, my husband and son used them to make tiny swords from Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy games, which are also used to decorate my son's room.
