I used 3rd generation military night vision goggles so I have a direct comparison. For GEN I NV these monoculars are a great deal! They have a very sharp image, well beyond anything I could expect from a sub 150 NV setup. Don't be afraid of negative feedback from others. You need to focus both the lens and the eyepiece to get a good picture, this is NOT specified in the instructions. Also, the lower the magnification, the larger the field of view. Using night vision on the go is difficult with the magnification. Lower magnification makes it easier for you to see surrounding objects, so 2x magnification is ideal. Photos do not give you an idea of the size of the device. 2x palm-sized, similar to a small digital camera. The NV comes with a nylon carrying case with belt loop and lens cleaning cloth. Important Notice: BATTERIES ARE NOT INCLUDED. You need 1 CR123A battery. You will be very satisfied with this item!
