The lens protector does not stay in place.

I returned this product for two reasons. First, the protective film on the lens doesn't stick. That's ridiculous. I've had an owl monocular for about 17 years. It's well done. It still works, the lens cap is screwed on. Second, the picture was bad at best. I'll try to stick with Night Owl but not if I don't get quality.

Annoyingly mediocre

I wouldn't call it rubbish. I work, but there are more minuses than pluses. Advantages. Less than I thought. A lightweight. Simple controls and easy to use. Good image (Gen 1) in bright moonlight or low ambient light. And requires a general size CR123A battery. The lens cap is not attached. The focus ring is very, very tight, but the diopters move too easily. The IR emitter is terrible and weak. It doesn't show a headlight or lit area like the others. Instead, it's a kind of intermittent ring…

Almost the same as any other 1st generation NV

At night I went to some fields and forests. To be honest this isn't very helpful in a moonlit field because once your eyes get used to it, moonlight shows about as much as it does. It worked quite well in the forest with the infrared port turned on, allowing you to move along the path. The fact that it's only 2x means it's useful at close range too. One downside: since you're looking at a bright screen an inch from your eye, you lose all night vision in that eye, whichever eye you're looking…

Excellent night vision! Ideal for hiking route.

I used 3rd generation military night vision goggles so I have a direct comparison. For GEN I NV these monoculars are a great deal! They have a very sharp image, well beyond anything I could expect from a sub 150 NV setup. Don't be afraid of negative feedback from others. You need to focus both the lens and the eyepiece to get a good picture, this is NOT specified in the instructions. Also, the lower the magnification, the larger the field of view. Using night vision on the go is difficult with…

Excellent small night vision scope

I am very satisfied with this night vision scope. It works well. I like the 2x as it offers low magnification but maintains a very wide field of view. It's perfect for forest walks or exploring your wooded garden. First generation night vision works great with IR illumination. I've seen people complain about focus. Remember that during the day you will need to focus the eyepiece (where your eye is looking) on the wall in your house with the front cover still on the unit. Once you focus on it…
