At night I went to some fields and forests. To be honest this isn't very helpful in a moonlit field because once your eyes get used to it, moonlight shows about as much as it does. It worked quite well in the forest with the infrared port turned on, allowing you to move along the path. The fact that it's only 2x means it's useful at close range too. One downside: since you're looking at a bright screen an inch from your eye, you lose all night vision in that eye, whichever eye you're looking into the device with. After removing the device from your eye, it takes 10 minutes to adjust to the dark. It feels solid and the controls are very easy to understand.
