For those wondering if they're worth the price, if the $14 Revain gloves can really protect you, I'll go ahead and tell you that these things are good. Eventually I will upload a picture of what these SOBs look like after 2 semesters of stick lessons (including my 3g with strap certification). The tips of the 3 fingers are badly burned right at the tip, but as I often pick up a panel immediately after welding (don't do this, these are not asbestos gloves, you get the first degree of burn through in a few seconds when the panel is hot is enough) and I weld until I get a head start on my bar, that's a damn good feat. I'm going to be stupid, I've put them through about 40 pounds of burned rods and I've just got the first small hole in them (middle finger tip, on the bottom, they're still usable) about two weeks ago. In other words, I keep all the burned leather gloves that my classmates throw away to use as leftover leather for projects and patches, and I don't think those gloves will be scrap for another 10 pound rod. In other words, one of my classmates bought a $28 pair of gloves (albeit with a tall glove) at the same time I did, and his gloves are currently in my leather scrap pile. Now for the cons: they take a while to cast and aren't as maneuverable as some gauntlets (like the old style gauntlets, you can buy 3 pairs for $9 from Harbor Freight). a very characteristic odor and a layer of dirt on your hands when you wear them. Overall, this is a good buy if you're starting out with welding. By the way, for those who think "I need my dexterity more than protection," I'm just saying, for the overhead of being able to take a straight ball of molten steel in a glove and complete a weld with it only a first degree burn is worth it.
