BREAK! (I was able to start with their tech support to be honest)

I recently bought a new Ubiquiti NVR and G3 camera to replace the same items that have failed. I connected the camera and immediately found it on my network. I connected the NVR and quickly found it online. Then I tried to control the camera with the NVR and saw a "Firmware not supported" error. I updated the firmware on the dash cam and camera but it still didn't work. So I went to google to see what was wrong. Well it looks like the NVR needs to be upgraded from 3.8 to 3.10. And you have to do it with SSH (What?), oh yeah, you have to download PuTTY to access that SSH connection. If you then read PuTTY, if you do it at home you need to set up a dedicated network server (what for?). I love rabbit holes and enjoy learning new things. I have no idea what to do next. This item "broke out of the packaging". If you don't understand what I wrote above, turn away and run now. Edit: To be honest I was able to get in touch with the tech staff at Ubiquity and they were able to help me with the updates I needed. I'm on track and very happy. If these items worked when I plugged them in I would give 5 stars.

Pros
  • Security and surveillance
Cons
  • I don't remember but something was
