I bought a new truck and didn't want the plastic tailgate biting off my kayaks again. Since I kayak alone and sometimes with someone else, I might have a kayak or two in the back of my truck. I bought 2 of these so I had so much flexibility. I have a new 2021 Ram 1500 body. Two of them can be used at the same time, but they will overlap slightly in the middle. I made my first trip and did about 90 miles one way at freeway speed. The front of the kayaks is covered with a folding blanket. I only used them for the back. I had no problems with kayak traffic. I put a PE foam pad between the nylon straps and the tailgate. I've seen nylon straps ruin the color of some other products due to vibration so I wanted to make sure that didn't happen. The only thing that bothers me with prolonged use are the plastic buckles that attach it to the tailgate. If they break with normal use, I will update them. The straps around the kayaks are quite long. I have Old Town Loon 106 and Ascend D10 for size comparison. The only question is why I waited so long to get something like this.
