I bought two of these heaters to keep the metal feed trough from freezing in the winter. A heater prevents ice formation in 30F during the day and single digit temperatures at night. I installed 2 heaters on the trough knowing it was only going to get colder. With 2 connected drinking troughs, the edges of the drinking troughs do not freeze in sub-zero temperatures. I put up a trough to keep warm and prevent wind shear from the heated area. The trough is approximately 27 gallons. I will for sure buy again.
