Review on Merrell Kids Unisex MQM Flex Low: The Ultimate Hiking Shoe for Little Kid/Big Kid Adventurers by Cory Miles

Falls Apart - Merrell only offers a 60 day guarantee - Poor velcro and design render shoes useless

We bought two pairs of these shoes, one for my 5 year old and one for my 7 year old. Both are falling apart now. The velcro on these shoes is rubbish and doesn't stand up to normal use by kids. It detaches from the shoes (see photo). It's a shame because my kids love these shoes, they're comfortable and otherwise seem well made. But the issue with the velcro is HUGE and renders the shoe unusable once it breaks (shoes don't stay in place while running). Despite its reputation as a quality brand, Merrell only offers a 60-day guarantee on shoes. I can almost guarantee you that these shoes will fail shortly after that 60 day period, especially if you have active kids like me. 60 days is nothing for shoes in this price range. I am dissatisfied and will look for other brands in the future.

Pros
  • You can't go wrong with Merrels for Kids. They last forever, look good and offer great support.
Cons
  • maybe not very stylish.
