I bought several toys for my 2 year old, new-to-me rescue cat, including jingle balls, pompom on a string, catnip fish. These were played with for about five minutes. This wand, however, is an obsession. Every evening, Max sits in front of the closet where I keep it, until I am ready to play with him while watching TV. His interest has not diminished in the three months I have had it. The differences with this toy are that the movement is variable, thus more engaging, and there is more stimulating exercise for my indoor buddy (stalking, running, stretching, jumping). The toy comes with several feather replacements and a couple of other colorful shapes. None could be mistaken for a bird or other critter, but the size is right to play pretend. I have not had to replace the feathers yet, and we use it nearly every night.
