The mass to attach the magnet to the whip was not connected, I had to disassemble the base, solder the screen to the metal inside the base where the magnet is located. The plastic base is so thick that even with proper grounding, it will not ground. Compared to the competitor, the device does not have such good reception when connected to the same antenna and all settings are duplicated. Maybe that's anecdotal too, but the device heats up absurdly compared to the RTL-SDR v3. In general this is not satisfactory. Should have bought elsewhere. Email here went unanswered. In this case I would recommend an RTL-SDR dongle/antenna combo. The dipole got me further out of the box than this attack. I would have asked for a refund but I had to disassemble the magnetic mount for it to work properly.
