Works great for what I need

I used this to make an SWR meter and although it updates a bit slowly (which may be more software related - not sure) it works great. I am very impressed!

Good basic RTL-SDR - external components

For a basic RTL-SDR, that's enough to get the job done. I haven't used the remote, not sure what you actually used it for, but it's one thing. I use it with ADS mode S decoding at 1090MHz.

Inexpensive and well described

This has never been tested for Freeview use but is the cheapest SDR radio available. The description is correct so if you are looking for an R820T tuner it will work fine in the 25-1700MHz range.

Only accept FM and NOAA radio

I don't know what's going on. I can't hear anything on shortwave or amateur radio. But weather radio FM and NOAA are coming through. There are absolutely no instructions for the device. The supplied CD is for Windows only. The software links in the description download old windows software and you can get the latest software if you search for it. Works best on Mac with CubicSDR software download. But definitely only FM radio and NOAA weather radio. No shortwave or amateur radio bands…

Apparently there is at least one reviewer who thought this article was designed to be received by US TV channels. It's not because it wasn't designed for that purpose. If you live in the US like me, its value is an inexpensive software defined radio receiver (but not a transmitter).
