Review on πŸ”§ 8MILELAKE Macpherson Strut Spring Compressor Kit with Interchangeable Fork Coil Extractor Tools for Enhanced SEO by Kirt Phillips

Great spring compressor!

I've used many spring compressors over the years, including the old type that has a pair of separate long spindles with small clamps on either end that you attach to each side of the spring to compress it like one too very nice large single clamp I rented from Autozone (similar to this one) that worked fine but was bent when I used it. I bought this because it was very similar to what was sold on European parts sites for $250+, but was much cheaper and got good reviews. for which the springs are almost conical (wider at the top, narrower at the bottom) and it worked really well. I have tried using a dual stem compressor on these springs in the past and they would flex and not be able to compress the spring enough to disengage it from the strut. But this device worked like a charm! I ended up using medium sized clamps for this particular application and it's nice to know that there are larger and smaller clamps that I can use on both my sport coupe and truck. I give this a 5 star rating. However, I strongly recommend (as do some other reviewers) to lubricate the spindle drive screw with heavy duty synthetic grease before use - it comes with a light coating of oil which is excellent at protecting it from rust. , but that's not enough to lubricate it for real use. I also lubricated the outside of the shaft that the bottom clamp slides on with 3-in-1 oil, as it clumped up a bit when released (it dangled a bit when taking it off and then popped out a millimeter or two). Good product! Does its job very well and it's a really sturdy and well put together device.
