AFFORDABLE PROFESSIONAL MICROPHONE FOR HOME AUDIO LOVERS

I chose the DAYTON AUDIO iMM-6 microphone. My favorite hobby of my life is playing around with audio electronics and speakers. I used a similar sized condenser mic (Yamaha YPAO) that came with my Yamaha 5.1 receiver. However, I was never sure about the accuracy of YPAO. It is intended exclusively for the Yamaha receiver and not for self-measurement. But this DAYTON AUDIO iMM-6 microphone is made for just such a purpose. The iMM-6 comes with a calibration file that can be downloaded free of charge. The uploaded file is unique to my microphone. As far as I know, Dayton Audio Labs measures the response of each iMM-6 microphone (from 20Hz to 20kHz) and compares the response to a professional microphone. Any deviations are then recorded in a calibration file that can be called up by the user. This file is unique and can only be obtained through my microphone's unique serial number. This calibration file can be loaded into analysis software or an Android or Iphone audio analysis application, or simply downloaded and printed. The microphone itself is tiny, maybe 2 inches long. Comes in a beautiful metal box. Inside is a thick foam insert that securely holds the mic in place. It easily plugs into the headphone/mic jack on most phones (your phone must have a TRRS jack that allows you to record and stream simultaneously). recording) or to the input of the amplifier if your computer/telephone program/application can generate other test frequencies/tones. As for responsiveness and overall performance. The sensitivity of the iMM-6 is definitely higher. 10+ dB higher than my YPAO depending on the frequency. Since the iMM-6 mic comes with a calibration file and is claimed to be accurate to within 0.5dB, when I compared the test signals I realized that my YPAO mic is slightly different. Much more than previously assumed. So, I think this little mic is worth $20. Now I'm ordering an extension cable (TRRS-TRRS, male-female) to allow more flexibility of use. Any such cable/adapter must have TRRS on both ends. TRS will not work. TRRS is a 4-wire cable and connector. I prefer to use my laptop instead of my phone because the phone's internal circuitry doesn't allow for a flat response from 20Hz to 20kHz while my laptop can bypass the limiter circuitry. Highly recommended
