I was looking for a Chromecast-enabled portable speaker for my home. The Vizio SmartCast Crave Go is a perfect match. It is very beautiful, well made, sounds good and is easy to use. I particularly like its flexibility. It can be used with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (via Chromecast) and has a 3.5mm audio input. I'm sure I'll find it useful when I take it with me on my travels. On one end of the device are buttons for pausing the output, adjusting the volume, and performing Bluetooth pairing. The pause and volume controls work like a Chromecast speaker, which is a useful feature. There are two minor features I would like to include. First, there's no indicator to show when the device is fully charged. There is a low battery indicator but no full charge indicator. Secondly, unlike my Chromecast Audio, Vizio doesn't beep when you switch to cast mode. These aren't serious omissions, but they would be nice to have. A big problem with the device is the setup process. The Vizio SmartCast app (for Android) cannot set up the device. During my trials, the app kept crashing while I was setting the speaker's WiFi password. Although the speaker is configurable and connects to the local network, it does not support broadcasting. I got around this problem by using the Google Home app and assigning a device name. After that, the speaker has worked flawlessly until now. I'm pretty tech savvy but I see many users pointing out that the device is not working due to this error in the SmartCast app.
